Big Crowds Celebrate Canada Day
It was a fun-filled Canada Day weekend in the Western Canadian Baseball League.
More than 30,000 fans packed into WCBL ballparks across the long weekend to enjoy top-notch summer collegiate baseball action.
Crowds started celebrating the national holiday on Friday and kept showing up to Alberta and Saskatchewan diamonds right through to Canada Day on Monday.
Seaman Stadium opened its doors to 5,711 red-and-white clad fans for a July 1st matchup between the Swift Current 57's and the Okotoks Dawgs, which ended with the Dawgs claiming a 10-4 victory in front of their home crowd.
The Saskatoon Berries hosted a double-header against the Regina Red Sox at NexGen Patch at Cairns Field, where 3,788 baseball boosters turned up to see a split between the two East Division squads.

Another double-header took place in Lethbridge, where the Bulls took on the Sylvan Lake Gulls in front of a collective crowd of 2,660 people.
Elsewhere, a boisterous bunch showed up at Legacy Dodge Field in Fort McMurray to see the Giants square off against the Brooks Bombers. Fort Mac's 7-3 win was witnessed by 1,280 fans.
In Medicine Hat, another 1,069 fans filed into Athletic Park for fireworks between the Mavericks and the Weyburn Beavers that ended in a 16-10 triumph for the Mavs.
Meanwhile, Ross Wells Park welcomed a crowd of 568 people, who watched their hometown Moose Jaw Miller Express defeate the Edmonton Prospects by a 6-2 score.
