GOTW: Beavers at 57's
A Fourth of July feature matchup between the Weyburn Beavers and Swift Current 57's serves as the Western Canadian Baseball League Game of the Week.
The Beavers travel to Mitchell Field in Swift Current to take on the 57's on Thursday, July 4th.
Both clubs are 7-21 through their first 28 WCBL contests and are seeking to get into the East Division playoff hunt.
The top hitters on the 57's are British Columbia outfielder Kai Gray (.286 batting average, 23 runs batted in, 22 runs, 13 stolen bases in 27 games) and Australian catcher Marcus Graham (.302 batting average, 19 RBI, 18 runs in 26 games).
Swift Current's best pitchers include WCBL strikeout leader Kenny Jinks (2-3, 4.65 ERA, 51 Ks in 38.2 innings) and Bronx native Jaylen Gutierrez (1 save, 4.80 ERA, 25 Ks in 30 innings).
Two-way player Ian Heck has put together a strong season for the Beavers. As a pitcher, the righty is 1-2 with a 3.46 ERA and 24 strikeouts over 26 innings. At the dish, the Californian is batting .290 with 20 RBI, eight doubles and 18 runs scored.
North Dakota infielder Ryan Muizelaar - who is playing in his second season with Weyburn - is batting .343 with 18 RBI, 14 runs and six stolen bases over 25 games this summer.
Colorado product Tanner Coddington is 2-0 with a save working out of the bullpen for the Beavers. The righty also has a 5.40 ERA and 14 Ks in his 15 innings this season.
The WCBL Game of the Week schedule runs through August, with all games being broadcast on RFD-TV Canada and the Water Network.
