New Leader in Power Rankings

There is a new team in top spot in the Western Canadian Baseball League Power Rankings.

Riding a six-game win streak that started with a pair of victories over the Medicine Hat Mavericks, the Saskatoon Berries have overtaken the Mavs for the No. 1 position in the rankings. The 13-2 Berries have usurped the Mavericks - who held first place last week - in both the Power Rankings and the East Division standings. Medicine Hat now sits in third place in our highly-sophisticated, number-crunching ranking system.

The defending WCBL champion Okotoks Dawgs, with a 10-6 record and top spot in the West Division standings, have moved up to second place from third spot.

Sitting in fourth are the Regina Red Sox, who have won three straight and sport a 9-5 record. Queen City's finest baseballers advanced one spot from a week ago.

The Lethbridge Bulls also edged up a spot into fifth place. The horned bovines are tied with the Sylvan Lake Gulls at second in the West Divison with a 9-6 record. The Gulls have slipped two places into sixth in the Power Rankings after dropping a pair of contests to the Bulls in their most recent head-to-head matchups.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express, Fort McMurray Giants and Energy City Cactus Rats all moved up one position to seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.

Meanwhile, the Brooks Bombers dropped three places and now sit in tenth spot after five straight losses.

The final positions held by the Weyburn Beavers and Swift Current 57's remain unchanged.
