And Nash Crowell, first baseman with the Okotoks Dawgs, has been doing just that as the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) regular season winds down.

From Monday, July 27th through Sunday, Aug. 2nd, the Tennessee Tech University student from Nova Scotia bashed three home runs, produced 12 runs batted in (RBI), racked up nine hits and scored eight runs in six games. 

The hard-hitting outburst makes Crowell the Village Brewery Alberta Player of the Week in the WCBL.

A key contributor to the offence of the Dawgs, Crowell has a .357 batting average, .459 on-base percentage, nine homers, 44 RBI and eight stolen bases so far this season.

Other candidates for the honour included a trio of Sylvan Lake Gulls. Charlie Collins - who hit for the cycle recently and delivered a highlight-reel, game saving throw to home plate to seal a Gulls victory over the Dawgs - has been swinging a hot bat, as have his teammates Elijha Hammill and Johnboy Rittenhouse.
