ABOUT THE WESTERN CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE (WCBL)

The WCBL is Canada’s premier summer collegiate baseball league. The 12-team WCBL boasts a long-standing tradition of creating a showcase for top Canadian prospects, while at the same time offering American college players the opportunity to hone their skills in front of enthusiastic baseball fans in towns and cities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

In 2024, the wood-bat league will welcome back the Edmonton Prospects as well as a new expansion franchise, the Saskatoon Berries. The Okotoks Dawgs are the defending WCBL champions, coming off back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

The WCBL experienced record-breaking attendance in 2023, with 305,425 fans attending 275 regular-season games and another 40,370 spectators showing up to 16 postseason contests. Half of the league’s teams ranked in the Top 100 for summer collegiate attendance this year, according to Ballpark Digest. Seaman Stadium, the home of the Okotoks Dawgs, was also voted the best ballpark in summer collegiate baseball in 2023.

WCBL rosters include elite college players from across North America and league alumni have gone on to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) and in other professional baseball leagues.
