Game of the Week

Playoff implications abound in the Western Canadian Baseball League Game of the Week.

The GOTW tilt takes place Thursday, August 1st at 7 pm at Seaman Stadium between the host Okotoks Dawgs (37-14) and the visiting Fort McMurray Giants (19-32).

The Dawgs are in the hunt for top spot in the West Division and the WCBL, while the Giants are in a battle with the Brooks Bombers for the final postseason berth.

Okotoks has a formidable offence. The Dawgs lead the division runs, RBI, walks and on-base percentage. Pitchers on the Dawgs also lead the circuit in strikeouts and they take the field with a team that has the best fielding percentage in the WCBL in 2024.

The Dawgs are 6-1 against Fort McMurray this season, including a recent 16-7 triumph over the Giants on July 31st.

Okotoks has an 8-2 record over their last 10 games, while the Giants have gone 2-8 over the same span.

Fort Mac will look to put an end to a four-game losing skid and work their way back into a playoff spot, and the Dawgs will seek to keep the home fans happy.

The WCBL Game of the Week schedule runs through August, with all games being broadcast on RFD-TV Canada and the Water Network.
