The bid to repeat the three-peat has reached the final stage for the Okotoks Dawgs.

Okotoks scored eight runs in the fourth inning to ignite a 10-4 road win Tuesday night over the Sylvan Lake Gulls to take the best-of-three West Division Final in three games and advance to the Western Canadian Baseball League Final.

They’ll meet the Moose Jaw Miller Express, the East Division champions who edged out the Saskatoon Berries in three games, in a rematch of the 2022 WCBL Final.

On Tuesday, the Gulls drew first blood with two runs in the first inning before the Dawgs turned the decisive game on its head with an eight-run fourth inning.

Ricky Sanchez continued his offensive onslaught in the postseason with a bases clearing three-run double with catcher Caleb Lumbard delivering a two-run double along with Alejandro Cazorla, Jarrett Burney and Connor Crowson all driving in runs.

Okotoks kept it up in the fifth inning as Brendan Luther and Sanchez hit back-to-back RBI doubles.

The Gulls, the top-seed in the West, were held to just six hits on Tuesday.

Starter Brock Townsend went four innings, allowing one earned run and Okotoks’ deep bullpen shined once again with Ryan McFarland, Aaron Hammer, Zane Morrison and Gavin Wuschke combining for four innings of scoreless relief. The Gulls had a ninth-inning push with a two-run home run by Jason Green before time ran out on its comeback bid.

Sylvan Lake had the early edge in the series with a walk-off Game 1 victory by a 5-3 score before Okotoks rallied with two wins in as many nights.

Led by a strong pitching performance and clutch hitting from Sanchez and Luther in the seventh inning, Okotoks scored a 3-2 result in Game 2 Monday night at Seaman Stadium.

The best-of-three WCBL Final starts Thursday, Aug. 15 at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. Game 2 is Friday in Moose Jaw with Game 3, if necessary, back in Okotoks on Saturday, Aug. 17.
