Last Call for All-Stars!
Some clutch performers are getting their due.
The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) has announced a pair of "Last Call Clutch Performer" additions to the 2025 All-Star Game rosters.
Chosen by the WCBL executive - based on outstanding performance since the original All-Star rosters were selected - the East Division and West Division teams are getting one additional player for use in the All-Star Game, which is presented by FortisAlberta and is taking place on Saturday, July 19th at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks.
The phenomenal play of these baseball stars makes them deserving additions to the festivities.
Bernie Socarras, an outfielder with the Lethbridge Bulls, has a .417 batting average, which is tops in the league. Through 25 games this season, the product of Hobbs, New Mexico has 30 runs, 17 runs batted in (RBI), four homers and 14 stolen bases.
Colton Anderson, a starting pitcher with the Regina Red Sox, is 2-3 with with a 2.60 earned run average (ERA) and 40 strikeouts in 38 innings this summer. The 6-foot-3 southpaw from Oklahoma was the WCBL's Most Outstanding Pitcher in 2024.
These worthy roster adds are among a number of finishing touches for the star-studded teams.
The East Division squad initially included infielder Jalen Seward and outfielder Jackson Syring, who are both members of the Regina Red Sox. Taking their place from the Red Sox are shortstop Matthew Fox (.326 batting average, 34 runs, 15 doubles, 27 RBI, six homers in 37 games) and outfielder Rafael Jackson (.348 batting average, 42 runs, 11 doubles, 28 RBI, 16 stolen bases in 39 games).
With the West Division roster, Seth Gurr - a starting pitcher with the Okotoks Dawgs - was originally named to the team but he is unable to play. Subbing in is Austin Eaton, a Texas State University product with a 2-0 record, 3.31 ERA, and 22 Ks in 19 innings pitched for the Dawgs. Logan Grant has also been added. The catcher and outfielder has a .276 batting average, 16 runs and 11 RBI through 14 games this summer for the Dawgs. Grant is stepping in for Maddox Shaver, an infielder with the Brooks Bombers who is expected to be in attendance but cannot take part in the game.
