Locking in the Power Rankings
As teams battle it out for playoff seeds and a spot in the postseason during the final days of the Western Canadian Baseball League regular season, the Power Ranking positions are locking into place.
The Saskatoon Berries are secure atop the East Division standings and are now hunting the WCBL record for single-season wins, a mark established by the Sylvan Lake Gulls last summer when they racked up 44 victories.
The Okotoks Dawgs, meanwhile, are hoping to remain in first place in the West Division while the Gulls and Lethbridge Bulls try to catch them. The battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West remains fierce, with the Fort McMurray Giants, Brooks Bombers and Energy City Cactus Rats all in the mix.
One of the few teams to move up the rankings, the Medicine Hat Mavericks, are in second place in the East Division, and the Regina Red Sox and Moose Jaw Miller Express have punched their tickets to the postseason.
The Weyburn Beavers were the only other team to gain ground, climbing ahead of the Swift Current 57's for 11th place in the Power Rankings, which are presented by Access Storage and Sentinel Storage.
