Director of Corporate Partnerships Opportunity

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) is seeking a sales driven, highly-self motivated and charismatic visionary for the position of Director of Corporate Partnerships.

The Director of Corporate Partnerships will be responsible for developing and implementing the league’s short and long-term sales, and corporate partnership strategies.

There will be a vital sales aspect to this role as this individual will strive to meet the league’s financial objectives by identifying sellable league assets and successfully adding new revenue streams and leveraging growth opportunities.

This individual will focus on substantially increasing the fan base, social platforms and the interest of the media by creating league-wide corporate partnerships. Additionally, this individual will work to strengthen the league’s brand, public profile and sustainability.

The successful candidate will work remotely with the flexibility for some travel between May and August, for board meetings (one to two annually) and for special events.

The Director of Corporate Partnership will report to a Management Committee appointed by the WCBL Board of Governors.

RESPONSIBILITIES


● Identify league-wide assets inventory to be used in sponsorship discussions;
● Establish and implement a marketing and corporate partnerships strategy;
● Market league-wide corporate sponsorships and generate new revenue streams for the WCBL;
● Work directly with teams on asset inventory and deliverables
● Be a strong ambassador of the league throughout all WCBL communities;
● Coordinate and attend all league meetings as needed;
● Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


● A degree or diploma in business, marketing, communications or sports management
(equivalent experience will be considered);
● Strong experience in corporate sales and marketing;
● Proven experience building and maintaining positive working relationships with external
parties;

● Experience leveraging digital and traditional communications to progress
organizational goals;
● Ability to prepare and implement strategic plans and set organizational goals to
maximize impact;
● Experience in budgeting and administrative management;
● Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
● A self-starter with strong leadership and management skills;
● Demonstrate effective interpersonal and networking skills;
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
● Experience working in a sports related organization is considered an asset;
● Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and major events

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

● This is a full-time, year-round contracted position;
● It should be noted that year one and two deliverables are revenue generation activities to cover
the league’s operating costs related directly and indirectly to this position;
● Candidates who progress to final stages of the recruitment process will be required to provide
proof of education and a driver’s abstract.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) is Canada’s premier summer collegiate baseball league.

The WCBL has a long-standing tradition of showcasing top Canadian professional and college prospects while offering American college players the opportunity to hone their skills in front of enthusiastic baseball fans throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The WCBL plays from the end of May to the middle of August each summer, with the 12 teams in the league divided into two conferences, with each team playing 56 games.
