It Takes a Village ...
The Western Canadian Baseball League is teaming up with Village Brewery to present the WCBL Alberta Player of the Week throughout the 2026 season.
WCBL Director of Corporate Sponsorships Noah Rolheiser is excited about the partnership with the Calgary-based brewery.
“We are delighted to have Village Brewery on board with celebrating the top pitchers and hitters in our league,” said Rolheiser.
“Our players represent some of the highest-end baseball talent in North America and any opportunity we can get to put a spotlight on them is very much appreciated.”
Each week during the WCBL regular season – which runs from late May through August of 2026 – the Alberta Player of the Week from Village Brewery will recognize an exceptional athlete from a West Division team.
Some of the best pitchers and batters in the WCBL will be honoured through this initiative.

The wood-bat league consists of two divisions, an all-Alberta West Division and an East Division comprised of five Saskatchewan squads and a franchise from Alberta.
WCBL rosters include elite college players from across North America and league alumni have gone on to play in Major League Baseball (MLB), at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and in other professional baseball leagues.
All-Star Weekend takes place in Saskatoon this year, where the Berries will play host to the top players from around the WCBL on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th.
The Regina Red Sox are the defending WCBL champions, coming off a thrilling three-game series victory over the Sylvan Lake Gulls in 2025.
