Alberta Player of the Week Carter Claerhout
Carter Claerhout keeps rolling.
The first baseman with the Lethbridge Bulls - who was recently named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Player of the Year for his outstanding senior season at Bellevue University - has put together a strong start to his 2026 Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) campaign.
Through his first eight games with the Bulls, Claerhout has smacked 15 hits, including three doubles, while scoring seven runs, producing nine RBI and registering a .441 batting average. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound infielder also has four stolen bases.
As a result of his fine play between Opening Day on May 28th and Sunday, June 7th, Claerhout has been named the Village Brewery Alberta Player of the Week in the WCBL.
The long-time Lethbridge star beat out several West Division candidates, including Okotoks Dawgs outfielder Cal Gates and his teammate Connor Crowson. Maddox Shaver of the Sylvan Lake Gulls and Lethbridge middle infielder Kalem Haney also garnered consideration for the honour.
