Movement in Power Rankings
It's a Dawg eat dog world in the Power Rankings.
After falling out of top spot in the weekly Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) Power Rankings - presented by FortisAlberta - the Okotoks Dawgs have regained the throne on the strength of a six-game win streak that has boosted their overall record to 11-3 this season. That .786 winning percentage has been achieved with a plus-86 run differential thus far and the Dawgs are first overall in the WCBL standings.
The bump for the Dawgs resulted in the Saskatoon Berries dropping into second spot. The Berries are 10-4 and sit in first place in the East Division.
Remaining in third place in the Power Rankings are the Lethbridge Bulls, who are now 10-3 after winning four games in a row.
The Moose Jaw Miller Express - the hottest team in the East Division - move up to fourth place. The 9-4 Millers are also riding a six-game unbeaten streak and have a plus-26 run differential.
Meanwhile, the Sylvan Lake Gulls slipped one spot into fifth overall in the Power Rankings. The Lake Boys have won two in a row and sit at 7-6 on the season, making them the third-place squad in the West Division behind the Dawgs and the Bulls.
The Weyburn Beavers were the biggest risers in the Power Rankings, moving up three places into sixth spot. They have an overall record of 5-7 this year and a .500 record over their last 10 games.
Chasing the Beavers are the seventh place Medicine Hat Mavericks and the Regina Red Sox in eighth spot. Both teams are 4-6 over their last 10 contests and the Mavs have a plus-18 run differential.
The Energy City Cactus Rats climbed two spots into ninth overall with a pair of recent wins over Medicine Hat that pushed their record to 4-5 in the West Division.
Falling two places are the 3-7 Fort McMurray Giants, who have suffered four straight losses.
Rounding out the Power Rankings are the 11th place Brooks Bombers, who won their first pair of games recently and now sport a 2-9 record, while the Swift Current 57's find themselves at the bottom of the standings at 2-10 and are in the midst of a seven game losing skid.
