Crouse Nabs Player of Week Honours
Ayden Crouse is the best in the West.
The speedy outfielder with the Okotoks Dawgs has been selected as the Village Brewery Alberta Player of the Week in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) for his outstanding play between Monday, June 8th and Sunday, June 14th.
During his five games that week, the Indiana University student collected eight runs, nine hits, 10 runs batted in (RBI), two home runs, four doubles and seven stolen bases. The pride of Gilbert, Arizona helped pace the offence for the Dawgs, who are in the midst of a six-game winning streak and sit atop the WCBL standings with an 11-3 record.
Crouse edged out several other worthy candidates for the honour, including his teammates Nash Crowell, who had a three-homer/nine RBI game against the Brooks Bombers, and Cal Gates, who leads the WCBL in stolen bases with 16. Maddox Shaver of the Sylvan Lake Gulls was also in the mix - his 1.490 OPS (on-base plus slugging) is tops on the circuit.
