Baker Declared SK Player of Week
He's been dominant for the Regina Red Sox all season long.
But his recent outing against the Saskatoon Berries made Kaegan Baker the SaskTel Saskatchewan Player of the Week for the period between Monday, June 15th and Sunday, June 21st.
The right-handed starting pitcher from Oklahoma faced the purple-clad opponents on Tuesday, June 16th and logged eight innings on the mound against Saskatoon. Baker struck out 11 batters while allowing just three hits, two walks and no runs in the 93-pitch effort, which resulted in a 6-0 triumph for the Red Sox over their provincial rivals.
The strong showing pushed Baker's WCBL record to 3-0, while registering a league-leading 0.86 earned run average (ERA) so far. The 6-foot-1 Southwestern Oklahoma State University student also has 31 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.
Also generating consideration for SaskTel Saskatchewan Player of the Week honours were homer-happy slugger Jake Hiromoto (Swift Current 57's) and infielder Thomas Soto of the Moose Jaw Miller Express, who leads the WCBL in stolen bases with 22.
