Dawgs Reclaim Top Spot

The Dawgs are biting back.

After watching the Lethbridge Bulls take over top spot in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) Power Rankings - presented by FortisAlberta - Okotoks has reclaimed first overall thanks to a three-game win streak and the best winning percentage (.730) on the circuit. The 27-10 Dawgs are in first in the WCBL and West Division standings and have claimed victories in seven of their last 10 games.

Hot on their heels are the second-place Moose Jaw Miller Express, who are tied for first in the East Division with 25 wins and 11 losses. The Millers jumped three spots from last week's Power Rankings. Moose Jaw is in the midst of a seven-game unbeaten streak and the squad is 9-1 in their last 10 games.

The Saskatoon Berries, who have an identical record and share top spot in the East Division with the Millers, remain in third spot. The Berries have the best run differential (plus-120) in the division and have won four straight contests.

In fourth are the Bulls, who plunged from first after dropping three in a row and posting a .500 record over their last 10 games.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls are in fifth place with a 25-11 overall record. They are 7-3 in their last 10 matchups and have a plus-125 run differential. The Gulls sit in second place in the West Division.

Holding steady at sixth are the 16-19 Medicine Hat Mavericks, winners of six of their last 10 games. The Mavs are in third place in the East Division.

The Energy City Cactus Rats made a big jump, up three places into seventh in the Power Rankings. They went 5-5 recently and hold the final playoff spot in the West Division.

The Regina Red Sox (13-22), Weyburn Beavers (13-21) and Brooks Bombers (9-23) all dropped one spot and now sit in eighth, ninth and 10th place respectively in the weekly rankings. 

Rounding out the Power Rankings are the 11th overall Swift Current 57's (11-22) and the 12th-place Fort McMurray Giants (9-28).
