Collins Alberta Player of Week

Charlie Collins has done it all for the Sylvan Lake Gulls lately.

The outfielder with the Lake Boys was stellar in games between Monday, July 6th and Sunday, July 12th and has earned Village Brewery Alberta Player of the Week honours as a result.

The Australian, who has studied at Southeastern University for the last two years, produced 11 hits, nine runs, five stolen bases, six runs batted in (RBI) and one home run in five Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) games.

Collins now carries a .406 batting average, .488 on-base percentage and .652 slugging percentage through 23 games this season.

Also in the running for Alberta Player of the Week recognition was Brody Forno, who racked up 10 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and two walks, along with one earned run during a six-inning start for the Okotoks Dawgs against the Weyburn Beavers on July 10th.

That same day, Jan Carlos Rodriquez - starting pitcher with the Energy City Cactus Rats - logged seven innings against the Brooks Bombers and permitted three hits, three walks, one earned run while striking out 11 batters. Rodriquez was also considered for the honour.
