Power Rankings Home Stretch

Here they come!

The teams in the Western Canadian Baseball League are settling in for the final stretch of the regular season.

As a result, we're seeing some clubs dig in their positions in the weekly WCBL Power Rankings, presented by FortisAlberta.

The top six squads in the rankings are unchanged from the previous week, with the Moose Jaw Miller Express remaining in first place, followed by the Okotoks Dawgs in second and the Saskatoon Berries in third.

As of July 27th, all three of those teams have 33 wins and sit atop their respective division standings.

Coming in fourth place are the Sylvan Lake Gulls, who are in second in the West Division with a 30-16 record after going .500 in their last 10 games.

Right behind in both the West Division and the Power Rankings are the fifth-seeded Lethbridge Bulls, who have a 26-16 record.

Rounding out the top six are the Regina Red Sox (19-25), the defending WCBL champions, who are 6-4 over their last 10 contests.

Jockeying below are the seventh-place Weyburn Beavers (18-26), who moved up one spot after a .500 stretch, and the eighth-overall Medicine Hat Mavericks (19-28), who dropped one position after going 3-7 recently.

In ninth in the Power Rankings are the surging Swift Current 57's (16-31), who have received a boost from slugger Jake Hiromoto, the new single-season record holder for home runs and RBI in the WCBL. The 57's recently won a pair of games over the red-hot Moose Jaw Miller Express and put an end to their 14-game winning streak.

Rounding out the bottom three teams are the 10th-place Energy City Cactus Rats (17-24), the 11th-overall Fort McMurray Giants (13-35), and the 12th-seeded Brooks Bombers (13-31).
