Was there any other choice?

Jake Hiromoto went on an absolute tear between Monday, July 20th and Sunday, July 26th. 

The results for the Swift Current 57's third baseman from Honolulu, Hawaii were seven home runs, 17 RBI, 11 runs and two stolen bases in nine games played. 

That production helped push Hiromoto to set single-season records for home runs and RBI in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL). The 21 homers on the season eclipsed the 20 long balls recorded by Brooks Bombers catcher Riley MacDonald in 2018 and Hiromoto's 68 RBI took him past former Lethbridge Kaleb Warden, who set that record in 2019 and William Edwards, who currently roams the outfield for the Moose Jaw Miller Express and tied the mark of 66 RBI last season. 

Hiromoto will look to grow those record-setting totals and help the 57's make a postseason push in the final games of the regular season, but for now the University of San Francisco student is being recognized as the SaskTel Saskatchewan Player of the Week in the WCBL.

And while Hiromoto was the obvious selection, a couple of other East Division players were also considered, including Nathan Houston of the Saskatoon Berries and southpaw Samuel Jackson of the Regina Red Sox.
